The Avery-Tsui Foundation Directors would like to thank all guests for attending the Dedication Ceremony.
For the avoidance of confusion, please note that only invited guests may participate in the events comprising the WongAvery Music Gallery Dedication Ceremony.
Planning for the WongAvery Music Gallery at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, began in early 2016. Following a detailed design consultation process, the completion of a number of advisory meetings with Historic England (a governmental entity which exists to preserve England's architectural heritage), and the approval of the Cambridge City Planning Office, construction began in February 2019 with demolition of a non-historical utility building, and an archaeological investigation of the site.
On 4 July 2019, the Avery-Tsui Foundation's Directors attended a cornerstone laying ceremony. Although impacted by the introduction of various restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, construction of the WongAvery Music Gallery was completed in August 2021.
The WongAvery Music Gallery honors Dennis S. Avery, a founding Member of the Avery-Tsui Foundation and the namesake of Avery Court, the courtyard area in which the WongAvery Music Gallery sits. Dennis Avery was an alumnus (1980) and Honorary Fellow of Trinity Hall. Trinity Hall is one of the thirty one colleges that together comprise the University of Cambridge. Reflecting on her late husband who died in 2012, Sally WongAvery, Chair of the Avery-Tsui Foundation, stated: “Dennis loved music, architecture, and Trinity Hall. Seeing the iconic WongAvery Music Gallery rising up in Trinity Hall’s Avery Court would immensely please Dennis.” Natasha Wong, Vice-Chair of the Avery-Tsui Foundation, added: “Our family is honored and humbled to be a part of such a beautiful architectural expression. We hope that the WongAvery Music Gallery will continue to inspire future generations as much as Trinity Hall has touched and inspired our family.”
The Avery-Tsui Foundation Board is pleased to present to you the WongAvery Music Gallery. Avery-Tsui Foundation Directors Sally WongAvery, Natasha Wong, Tom Hom, and the Fellows of Trinity Hall, look forward to receiving invited guests at the Building Dedication Ceremony on June 24, 2022.
